Nevada leaders rally residents against Yucca Mountain

The completion of the license application to approve the nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain signaled more than just panic from opponents of the nuclear waste project, it sparked some bi-partisan action as well.

As the all Democrat line up of Sen. Harry Reid, Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and Clark County Commissioners Rory Reid and Susan Brager rallied to get signatures from residents to send to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, they were joined by Republican Congressman Jon Porter.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission must give its approval of the license before the nuclear repository site located 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas can begin operating.
