White tent serves as Mariott gambling hall

The Mariott opened its doors, or more like the flaps, to its casino Wednesday.

In order to retain the gaming license that the Mariott inherited from the former night club that occupied the property across from the Las Vegas Convention Center, the company was required to open for business for a minimum of 24 hours. Without much more than a dirt lot, the Mariott set up a white tent and filled it with slot machines.

While the faux opening cost the Mariott $50,000, the company won't be making that back all in one day. According to KLAS news, tourists were confused and unwilling to stay and play.
