NRA is MIA on Tax Debate

A few years back we discussed on the program what impact casino consolidation would have on the industry, and by default, the rest of us. The time to speculate is through. The chickens have come home to roost in the form of a fractured Strip that has almost every company forwarding a plan for the state to hit the jackpot

In 2003 Big Gaming put its collective trust in the Nevada Resort Association to persuade legislators to revolutionize the state's tax system. You know how that worked out. Now, the gamers are abandoning their collective strategy in exchange for a hodgepodge of ideas. Wynn, Harrah's and Station are on board the Room Tax Increase Express. Sheldon Adelson wants to divert some of that room tax revenue to pay for services. And now, MGM MIrage boss Terry Lanni wants to DOUBLE the payroll tax.

And where is the NRA? MIA. Bill BIble, who is never easy to get on the program, isn't even returning my calls. Not even a rejection from his secretary.

Also among the missing, a man who is generally happy to be on TV, Republican spinman extraordinaire, Sig Rogich.
