Sig speaks

Sig Rogich, the man who helped get Jim Gibbons elected to the state's highest office, remains steadfast in his defense of the governor's ability to right the sinking ship that is his administration. But Rogich admits even the best public relations folk are hard pressed to put a positive spin on Gibbons' texting a married woman at all hours while the state falls apart around him. Rogich even agreed Nevada needs new or higher taxes to stabilize its wobbly base, but waffled when Jon asked whether he'd informed the governor of this blasphemy.

Rogich, who is John McCain's man in Nevada, discusses McCain's tortured efforts to embrace President Bush's "War on Terror" while attempting to avoid the McBush label. More on that tomorrow when Jon dissects McCain's second campaign ad in Nevada.

Also tomorrow - A study commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce reveals Nevada's public employees are the eighth highest paid in the nation.

Am I the only person who recognizes the obvious solution? Hey, private sector - time to bring your salaries up to par!
