UPDATED STORY: Gorman athlete’s ex-girlfriend was granted restraining order

Bishop Gorman senior football player Justin Chaisson was scheduled to appear in front of Judge Melissa Saragosa Thursday in Clark County District court on a felony charge, according to the court's docket.

Chaisson, 18, was reportedly arrested Tuesday and charged with multiple criminal acts, including felony assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and three counts of battery. The arrest stems from an incident with his girlfriend last week in which Chaisson reportedly attacked his girlfriend with a screwdriver, according to a KLAS Channel 8 report.

Chaisson isn't listed as an inmate on the Clark County Detention Center's Web site and it is not known if he appeared in court. Calls to his cellular phone weren't immediately returned.

Chaisson, a 6-foot-4, 252-pound defensive end who signed to play at the University of Oklahoma, set the state's single season sack record with 23 in 2007 to help Gorman win the state championship. He had 46 tackles and five sacks in 2008 as Gorman advanced to the Sunset Regional title game. Rivals.com ranked Chaisson as the 73rd best football player in the nation for the class of 2009 and the fifth best strongside defensive end.
