The calendar has flipped into October and the weather is noticeably cooler in Las Vegas, especially at night.
For high school football, this is the best month of the season because teams are jockeying for playoff position. And, of course, because games are played in near-perfect weather.
Some programs realize their season is falling short of expectations and rally. Others realize they’ve come up short and head inside for wrestling and basketball practice.
The picks column had another strong showing last week with a 14-2 mark. For the season, it’s 88-19.
Here’s another week of selections:
Green Valley at Foothill
This Henderson rivalry is the game of the week. Foothill 38, Green Valley 23
Arbor View at Legacy
Great spot for Arbor View to get back on track. Arbor View 43, Legacy 8
Liberty at Silverado
It’s a shame the meeting didn’t happen last year, when Silverado would have arguably been the favorite. Liberty 50, Silverado 0
Basic at Clark
Basic won’t give up 43 points this week. Basic 33, Clark 13
Mojave at Cheyenne
Make it two in a row for the Rattlers of Mojave. Mojave 23, Cheyenne 12
