Liberty High School players perform the haka as they celebrate their 30-24 overtime victory over Bishop Gorman in the Desert Region championship at Liberty in Henderson Friday, Nov. 22, 2019.

This is the week we have been waiting for.

The Class 5A, Division-I has a pair of notable high school football games on Friday night, including the always-anticipated showdown between the Bishop Gorman Gaels and Liberty Patriots.

It doesn’t matter that Liberty is battling injuries or that the Patriots had a humbling defeat last week. It’s still Gorman-Liberty, a rematch of the 2019 regional finals where the Patriots upset the Gaels.

Arbor View and Coronado tangle in the other contest of importance in the classification in what is suddenly a meeting that could determine who takes second in the conference.

The picks column went 13-3 last week — missing Coronado’s upset of Liberty — and stands at 72-35 on the season.
