City Hall comes to Galleria Mall

Do you want to organize a neighborhood cleanup, but don’t know the first place to start? Want more information on how to beautify your home for free? Do you know the reasons you should call 3-1-1 instead of 9-1-1?

Learn all this and more, and get your holiday shopping done at the same time.

Citizens of Henderson can stop by the Galleria Mall this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to meet and talk with city representatives.

“This is a convenient way for shoppers to obtain city information and provide feedback,” says Kathy Blaha, information specialist for the City of Henderson.

The annual event, called “City Hall at the Mall,” is sponsored by Henderson’s Neighborhood Services. The booths will be set up on the upper level of the mall, near the food court.

The public can stop by and talk with representatives from police, fire, utility services, code enforcement, municipal court, and neighborhood services. Maybe you have a question you’ve never called the city about or you’re too busy to stop by City Hall during normal business hours. This would be the perfect time to talk to someone about it.

You’ll also be able to hear winners of a fifth-grade essay contest, sponsored by Henderson’s Neighborhood Services division. Students were given the opportunity to write an essay about how they’d handle city government in a contest called, “If I Were the Mayor of Henderson…” Five winners were selected, based on grammar, spelling, originality and understanding of local government.

The essay presentation will begin at 2 p.m.
