An introduction

Hello, Henderson!

As a matter of introduction, my name is Mandy Walton and I'm a proud Henderson native, born and raised. I grew up in the quiet little neighborhood of Hillcrest, just up from Timet, where my dad worked. I attended the original schools in this town: Gordon McCaw Elementary, Burkholder Middle School and Basic High School. I graduated from Basic in 1999 and continued my education at the Community College of Southern Nevada. Because I have such diverse interests, and couldn't pick a major, I earned a degree in General Studies in 2003. Suits me perfectly!

During the last 10 years, I've worked at McDonald’s (who hasn't?), parks and recreation, sold Avon, and worked as a secretary. I have a great husband and a cute little boy, and what family is complete without a droopy basset hound?

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and while I've dabbled in the freelance market, writing informational e-books and articles, I just recently I fell upon the opportunity to blog. While I'm not too fashion-conscious (I let my mom & sister dress me), my life revolves around music, books, magazines, and current events. My purpose is to give you my perspective on the interesting things that are going on in this town, and about the people who live their lives in this "Place to Call Home." So, let me be the first to say, welcome!
