Let me introduce myself…

By way of introduction let me share a little about myself. My name is Michael Thompson, and Las Vegas has been my home for over 40 years.

To say that I have seen some changes would be the proverbial understatement. Like many of you who have called Las Vegas home since the 1960s, we have had the unique experience of watching our small town mature and become the entertainment, gaming and convention capital of the world. I must admit that I have some mixed feelings about all that has become of our formerly slow-paced corner of Nevada.

Today, for me, it is all about family. These days, my wife, Debbie, and I share the wonderful experience of raising two great children. Our oldest daughter is a preteen and our son is just one year younger. They are the joys of our lives, and each other’s.

There is something to be said for having children close in age.

In life, one is challenged to find his or her calling. For my wife and I, it comes in the fields of education and counseling. We share our calling together as small business owners, serving families and children through our school and childcare center.

Our family is the outdoorsy type and we enjoy hiking, snow skiing, and trail riding on our ATVs. Our daughter is a dancer and singer, and our son, like his daddy, has a love of soccer.
