Dragone is back in town

Franco Dragone, the genius director who designed Celine Dion's "A New Day..." and "Le Reve" at the Wynn, is in Las Vegas Thursday through Sunday, casting for a new touring show called "Circus McGurkus," based on the Dr. Seuss book "If I Ran the Circus."

"What's your thing?" asks an ad posted in the local Callback Entertainment magazine. "Whips, knife throwing, fear-eating, walking on coals? Are you very tall or very small or do you hang by the ends of your lengthy hair? Juggle pizza or other unusual objects?"

Dragone and the production company, Running Subway, are seeking "stoo-pendous daredevils, unusualists, specialty acts, fakirs, illusionists, side show artists, and unique physical specimens." They're also looking for "audacious child-like fun, the unexpected, cumulative fantasy leading to excess and chaos, and daredeviltry."

Sounds like Vegas, all right. The show will begin rehearsals here in the fall and begin touring in March.
