Today's image on the photo blog Another Las Vegas Daily Photo features a street banner depicting Mayor Oscar Goodman and a martini. (Or is it a martini and the Mayor?)
Last night, the mayor adventurously sampled a different drink, a cocktail called a BBQ Margarita, which was introduced with a party at Adam's Ribs. UNLV professor (and restaurant owner) Adam Carmer, who invented the concoction, says, "There's no better combination than great barbeque and margaritas. Savory barbeque and that slightly-sweet tequila cocktail can be an incredible combination. Marry those flavors in a whole new way... something magic happens."
We're told the mayor sipped the stuff, then switched back to his tried-and-true martini before splitting.
If the BBQ Margarita doesn't float your boat, you can order a Scorpion Shot -- choose one of Adam's Ribs' 300 tequilas and the bartender will drop in a (tiny, pre-deceased, stingerless) scorpion for $10 extra. Be advised that you should chew the scorpion before swallowing.
Anyway, back to that photo blog: "Most people only think of the Strip when you say Las Vegas," says the blogger, who identifies herself as Mo, a 14-year resident of the city. "I can tell you there is so much more to explore!" Mo's got a good eye -- her blog is well worth checking every day.
