A warehouse at Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada, home to more than 1 million cases of beverages.
This week, Monday By the Numbers is on the case and cases at Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada.
In a case of offering equal space to those not old enough to imbibe, we also track Las Vegas Philharmonic’s Youth Concert Series, which is part of L.V. Phil’s educational-outreach program and invites thousands of Clark County School District grade-school students to experience a Philharmonic concert.
The first of these performances are Thursday and Friday. Three more are set for January.
Onward with the numbers:
1.25 million: Cases (on average) of whisky, vodka, beer, bottled water and other assorted beverages stacked in Southern Wine & Spirits warehouse.
360,000: Square feet taken up by that warehouse.
10 minutes: About how long it takes to tour that facility in a golf cart with two brief stops.
30 feet: Approximate height the cases are stacked.
5,800 square feet: Size of Reynolds Hall in the Smith Center.
16,000: Students per year for whom L.V. Phil will perform free concerts in its Youth Concert Series.
32,000: Number of students per year to be served in L.V. Phil’s planned expansion of the program over the next three years.
80 percent: Students in the program who are classified as Title-1 or At-Risk.
Nine and 10: Ages, typically, of the students attending the L.V. Phil concerts.
12: Competitors taking part in Andy Walmsley’s benefit show “Drop the Mic” on Tuesday night at the Sayers Club at SLS Las Vegas (doors at 10:30, show at 11:30), a fundraiser for Shade Tree’s Noah’s Animal House.
11: Age of Pia Zadora, a “Drop the Mic” judge, when she debuted on Broadway in “Fiddler on the Roof.”
