Regulators fine Fox TV in Las Vegas

Fox TV Channel 5 in Las Vegas was one of 13 Fox-affiliated stations fined $7,000 each for a 2003 episode of "Married By America" that included graphic scenes filmed at bachelor and bachelorette parties.

The Federal Communications Commission in 2004 had proposed a $1.2 million fine against 169 affiliates of Fox Broadcasting Co. that aired the reality show, since cancelled, on April 7, 2003.

On Friday the agency fined TV station in markets from which it received complaints. TV stations in Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Md., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Tupelo, Miss., Des Moines, Iowa and Okemos, Mich., are facing fines according to the 30-age order issued by the FCC on Friday.

The FCC said that by "any reasonable definition," activities at the parties constituted sexual activities and the scenes also depicted sexual organs, although pixalated.

A Fox company spokesman said executives are considering their options, but disagree with the order.
