Gibbons calls for Loux to resign

Gov. Jim Gibbons calls for head of nuclear projects agency, Bob Loux, to resign in letter at right because of spending irregularities revealed this week. In news release with letter, it said: "This realization has caused the Governor to loose (sic) faith in Mr. Loux’s ability to effectively manage this office, which is so critical to the state’s efforts to fight Yucca Mountain. As such, Governor Jim Gibbons is requesting Mr. Loux’s resignation."

Loux clearly made egregious and perhaps arrogant mistakes. But for the governor to link this to the state's fight against Yucca and claim Loux's agency is "critical" to the state fight is simply ludicrous. And my guess is some will put this in the context of some prominent conservative types, especially up North and far away from Yucca, trying to gin up support for the project. But maybe I am being cynical.
