The state Democratic Party raised $1.1 million in 2009, mostly from union interests (but $50,000 from Wal-Mart), while the state GOP took in a tenth as much, half of it from one mining company. I have posted both reports at right.
I also find it interesting that the Democrats took large sums from Barrick and Newmont (which also gave to the GOP) mining and a progressive group is preparing a mining initiative. The Ds also took a lot of cash from PhRMA.
