The way former UNLV guard Kevin Kruger is finishing his first professional basketball season, he just might extend it in the NBA.
Kruger scored 43 points, on 10-for-13 shooting from 3-point land, in a 109-106 victory for Utah in Idaho in an NBA Development League game March 29.
In his three ensuing games, the savvy 6-foot-2 playmaker averaged 21.7 points, dishing out 26 assists and turning it over only six times.
His 39.4-percent shooting from long range is tied for 11th in the D-League, and he’s fifth in the league with 7 assists a game.
The Utah Flash is 23-25 and ends its season at home Friday, against Iowa, and Saturday, against Los Angeles (32-15) and former Rebels teammate Wendell White.
Utah won’t participate in the D-League playoffs. But if NBA sleuths have been keeping a close eye on Kruger, the last player cut in the Orlando Magic’s fall camp, maybe he’ll soon get a taste of the elite league.
