Wranglers take 3-0 lead on Alaska with 5-2 victory

Two quick goals near the end of the second period gave Las Vegas some valuable elbow room against Alaska on Tuesday night, and the Wranglers left Sullivan Arena with a 5-2 victory.

Las Vegas owns a 3-0 advantage in its best-of-seven series and is on the verge of advancing past the second round of the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs for the first time in its five-year history.

Game 4 will be played Thursday night in Anchorage. Game 5, if necessary, will be played in Sullivan on Friday.

Nursing a 2-1 lead in the second period Tuesday, Las Vegas got goals from left wing Marco Peluso and defenseman Gerry Burke within 16 seconds of each other to pull away from the Aces.

Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande has yielded an average of only one goal a game in the Wranglers’ last four playoff games.

Peluso and forward Adam Miller scored the first two goals of Tuesday’s game for Las Vegas.
