White not out of D-Fenders’ picture

Former UNLV swingman Wendell White recently bruised the outside of his foot for the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League and was promptly released.

Tough league, eh?

Not exactly. Although White told the Sun he might have been better off playing in Belgium, and making more money, this season, he’s still valued by the D-Fenders.

White, who started most of the team's games this season, has been practicing with the team lately. A team official said White will be back on the roster soon.

There is no injured reserve list in the D-League, so players must be cut to allow a team to carry its maximum 10 players.

White hopes to play for an NBA team in the Summer League, but he’s also realistic.

Making about $20,000, his D-League salary, is rough, especially when you’re married.

Next season, look for White to wind up in Europe like former Rebels Jerel Blasingame (Israel), Romel Beck (Italy) and Dalron Johnson (Turkey).
