Miller gives Wranglers 1-0 victory, knots title series with Cincy at 1-1

Fresh out of Ferris State University, 23-year-old center Adam Miller already has made a huge impact with the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Move to the head of the class if you know where Ferris State is and it’s nickname.

Sunday night, Miller scored the lone goal of the game late in Cincinnati to knot the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals at a game apiece.

It came with 4 minutes, 20 seconds remaining in regulation and defenseman Jason Krischuk assisted on the play before 6,897 at U.S. Bank Arena.

The best-of-seven series shifts to Las Vegas for Games 3, 4 and 5, respectively, on Thursday, Friday and Monday, June 2. Thursday, in a "Red Sea for Game 3" promotion, Wranglers officials want all fans to wear red to the Orleans Arena.

Wranglers rookie goalie Kevin Lalande stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his second shutout as a professional. Cyclones keeper Cedrick Desjardins fended off 20 of 21 attempts.

Miller, a 6-foot, 185-pound lefty, entered the Kelly Cup Finals with a plus-14 playoff rating, tying him with Krischuk for team-high honors in that category. Sunday, Miller scored his fourth goal of the postseason to go with 11 assists. Plus-minus figures denote goals scored to goals yielded when you're on the ice.

After playing for Ferris State as a senior this season, he landed with Las Vegas on March 18 and played nine regular-season games for the Wranglers.

He’s been a welcome addition for coach Glen Gulutzan, who also serves as the team’s general manager and can take an abundance of credit for scouting and signing Miller.

Oh, Ferris State is in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs were ousted from the playoffs when they lost a best-of-three series to Notre Dame.

The season, however, was far from over for Miller.
