Stallworth leaving Orleans Arena

The only director the Orleans Arena has ever known is quitting.

Steve Stallworth has resigned effective June 13 to accept a similar position at the South Point Equestrian and Events Center where he will be reunited with casino mogul Michael Gaughan, who gave him his start at the Orleans before it was sold to Boyd Gaming.

Stallworth will be assisted on the new job by Bill Purcell, the former director of corporate relations at the Orleans.

The 9,500-seat Orleans Arena is home to the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers and will be the site of next year's West Coast Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments, just one of many events Stallworth lured to the state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility.
