Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
NBA All-Star game, Total Over 298: $550 to win $500 The mid-February NBA All-Star game is nothing more than an exhibition featuring basketball’s biggest stars, meaning there’s no handicapping logic to give bettors an edge. It’s pure luck — like picking black or red on the roulette wheel.
With that said, here are three reasons why I like the game over.
• Last year’s game flew over the total with a 163-155 final. The same cast of players are again in the game, likely picking up where they left off in 2014.
• The game is being played at Madison Square Garden in New York. Basketball’s most storied venue always motivates players and produced off-the-charts offensive performances.
• Golden State’s “Splash Brothers” of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will turn the game into a 3-point shooting contest. They are the league’s two best outside shooters and will be looking to make a statement on a national stage. The West all-stars are coach by Golden State’s Steve Kerr, who will surely give Curry and Thompson opportunities to win the game’s MVP award.
Standings: Bern (66-59-1, $10,466), Keefer (64-64-2, $9,987), Brewer (59-68-3, $4,665)
