We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.
Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.
Anaheim Ducks plus-105 at Edmonton Oilers: $400 to win $420
The Edmonton Oilers return home after stealing both games in Anaheim and the home crowd will be one of the loudest you’ll see in the NHL playoffs.
The Oilers handled the Ducks in the first two games, winning 5-3 and 2-1, showing their lack of experience won’t stop them from a deep playoff run, and the Ducks looked nothing like the dynamic team that swept the Calgary Flames in the first round.
Still, I can’t see Anaheim falling down 3-0 in this series so I have to take the road underdogs in this one. The Ducks are 2-0 on the road this year in the playoffs and they will be by far the more desperate team in this one.
Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf have played well on the defensive end, especially Kesler on Connor McDavid, but neither have made as big of an impact offensively as they’d like. I see both Getzlaf and Kesler stepping up with their team’s back against the wall and getting a huge win in Edmonton tonight.
Current Standings: Grimala (9-11, $9,633), Granger (15-19-1, $8,247), Keefer (42-36-3, $7,880), Brewer (29-30-1, $6,585)
