Vegas Play of the Day: Baylor at TCU

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

TCU plus-4 vs Baylor: $770 to win $700 Baylor enters today’s game at TCU with a 17-1 record and top-10 national ranking. It’s tough to view the Bears, though, as a power. This will be just their fourth true road game of the season, and in each of the previous other contests, they’ve struggled. That includes losing by 20 points at West Virginia.

TCU is one of the most improved teams in college basketball under first-year coach Jamie Dixon. The Horned Frogs (14-4) have just one home loss, to perennial power Kansas by six points in a game not decided until the final minutes.

Baylor’s defense surrenders just 60 points per contest and will look to slow the game down. TCU will try to push the tempo. I expect a close game, meaning plus-4 is a good value play.

Current Standings: Keefer (36-25-2, $12,001), Brewer (21-19-1, $9,655), Grimala (3-3, $9,500), Granger (7-10, $6,700)
