Vegas Play of the Day: Ravens at Rams

The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now underway, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Baltimore Ravens minus-3.5 at Los Angeles Rams: $330 to win $300

The Ravens are a machine. Lamar Jackson might win the MVP, and the Ravens might win the Super Bowl.

The most impressive thing about Baltimore's offensive prowess is that aside from Jackson, it doesn't have any name-brand skill players. Who saw Mark Ingram being this good? And unless you have one on your fantasy team, can you name a Ravens receiver without looking it up?

The Rams meanwhile have been disappointing. They returned the same team that wrecked the NFC last season but are 6-4 and likely to miss the playoffs altogether. A loss tonight would seal that, but Baltimore is doing to the league what the Rams did last year.

The Rams should be the ones favored, and it's a testament to their play this year that they're not. Instead, the Ravens are favored by a field goal, and even that seems low.

Current Standings: Grimala (10-4, $10,505), Keefer (18-14-2, $9,655), Emerson (9-13, $8,030), Brewer (8-9, $7,735)
