Las Vegas, NV. The American Basketball Association’s (ABA) latest team addition, The Las Vegas Defenders, announced their quest to find the best of the best basketball players in Las Vegas today. “We know there are a lot of talented ball players in Las Vegas.” Says General Manager, Lynn Pingol. “We have seen many play in a variety of leagues all over the city, but the challenge is how well can they REALLY play when put in professional conditions? We are about to find out!”

The Las Vegas Defenders is set to have their first team try-outs on June 22 – 23rd at Minker Sports Complex. Between now and then, Head Coach Kent Buckner plans to offer conditioning and training classes to get players ready for the try-outs. Players interested in registering for these fee-based conditioning classes should contact Coach Buckner. “I want to give the players the best advantage possible by offering them the opportunity to get stronger so they can perform better during their try-outs,” Coach Buckner commented. He adds, “Offering something structured will show them how much it is going to take to play in the ABA.”

Basketball players throughout the valley have been waiting to hear about having another pro-basketball team in Las Vegas. When the American Basketball Association (ABA) last week announced that it would return to Las Vegas, NV next season, the news was received with much anticipation. According to the ABA website, “We are very pleased to be returning to the entertainment capital of the world after a year’s hiatus,” stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. “And we are also very pleased with the ownership group led by Kent Buckner and Lynn Pingol. On and off the court they will be a dynamic duo with tons of basketball and business experience.”

He was also a part of the 4-State Championship High School teams in Georgia and South Carolina. Coach Buckner is also the Owner and Founder of the K-Fit Program, the chartered program of the NBA/WNBA FIT offering youth fitness and basketball institute/youth league as well as a competitive Adult basketball league at select 24 Hour Fitness, USA gyms in Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ. Finally, Coach is also an accomplished author of the children’s book, The Great Safari Adventure.

Lynn Pingol will serve as the General Manager for the Las Vegas Defenders. She is a Strategic Business Consultant and divides her time serving as the CEO for the K-FIT Program.
