One Step Closer Foundation partners with VooDoo Zip Line to host “Share a Chair for Cerebral Palsy”

Las Vegas, NV – June 27, 2014 - The One Step Closer Foundation, a 501-c3 non-profit organization whose main goal is to help make easier the lives of those people suffering from cerebral palsy, is proud to partner with VooDoo Zip Line at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, home of the World Series of Poker, to announce the first ever “Share a Chair for Cerebral Palsy” charity event on Friday, June 27. For one day only, donors will have a chance to share a ride with a celebrity on the new VooDoo Zip Line with 100 percent of the proceeds being used to give the gift of mobility to children in need.
“For many children suffering from cerebral palsy, getting a motorized wheelchair to assist with everyday living seems unattainable due to their high cost,” said Jacob Zalewski, founder of the One Step Closer Foundation. “By partnering with VooDoo Zip Line for this event, donors will not only get the chance to ride Las Vegas’ newest thrill ride, but also the excitement of knowing their donation directly funded a wheelchair for a deserving child with cerebral palsy.”
To date, the One Step Closer Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cerebral palsy. Through this event, the One Step Closer foundation hopes to raise $10,000 in order to purchase four new motorized wheelchairs, each costing $2,500.
“We are honored to be hosting this event for such an incredible cause and we’re proud of all the support the One Step Closer Foundation has deservedly earned over the years,” said Jonathan Borchetta, owner of VooDoo Zip Line and partner of New Capital Ventures. “Some big names will be coming out to our VooDoo Zip Line to help raise money for these children in need, including Montel Williams, Mekhi Phifer, Cheryl Hines, Iheanyi Clemons, Stacy Fusion, Sara Underwood, Alicia Webb, Joy Miller, Keith Houk, William Fey, Joe Dickstein, Darius Walker, Dustin Folks and more.
Created by New Capital Ventures, VooDoo Zip Line accommodates two riders at once and connects the two towers of the Rio Las Vegas almost 500 feet above the ground. The feet-dangling, adrenaline rush attraction begins on the patio of VooDoo Steakhouse, located on the 50th floor of the Masquerade Tower, and propels riders at speeds up to 33 miles per hour to the adjoining 20-story Ipanema Tower. Guests make a return trip to the starting point traveling backwards at 20 miles per hour. Offering one of the best views of Las Vegas, VooDoo Zip Line boasts a 360-degree panorama of the Strip and scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The heart-pumping adventure covers one-third of a mile in one minute and 10 seconds.

Donation packages start at $5 and are available for purchase now through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.Donation package perks include t-shirts, coffee mugs, entry into the “Raising the Stakes for Cerebral Palsy” poker tournament, dinner and a ride with a celebrity on the VooDoo Zip Line and more.
This event will precede the “Raising the Stakes for Cerebral Palsy” celebrity poker tournament on Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at 5 p.m. at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. This No-Limit Texas Hold-Em tournament will also benefit the One Step Closer Foundation, with a $300 + $30 entry fee buy in and $100 re-buys for the first 90 minutes. The final table will receive over $25,000 in cash and prizes.
