Las Vegas Stars scorecard

Only six players on this year's Stars roster were with the club on opening day last year: pitchers Denny Harriger, Glenn Dishman and Dustin Hermanson; infielder Rico Rossy; catcher Craig Colbert; and outfielder Eric Bullock. Bullock is serving as a player/coach this season for manager Jerry Royster and will remain on the Stars' disabled list until he is needed. ... Tacoma starter Mike Butcher had the distinction of being removed from the game twice Tuesday night. Butcher was pulled from the game by Rainiers manager Dave Myers after walking Paul Russo with the bases loaded, then got in a shouting with home-plate umpire Ray DiMuro on his way to the dugout. DiMuro promptly ejected Butcher for arguing balls and strikes calls. ... Stars second baseman Homer Bush has hit safely in all three games in which he has played and is hitting an even .500 (5-for-10). ... Stars first baseman Jason Thompson had two doubles Tuesday night and now has five extra-base hits (three doubles and two home runs) in 13 at-bats. ... The San Diego Padres are expected to send outfielder Todd Steverson to the Stars today to free a roster spot for pitcher Tim Worrell, who will join the Padres' starting rotation.
