More input sought on district split

Consultants studying whether Clark County should split into smaller districts are looking for more input.

An additional town hall meeting has been scheduled for March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Las Vegas Academy Auditorium at Ninth Street and Clark Avenue.

The Legislature authorized the hiring of Management Analysis and Planning Associates to conduct the $300,000 study.

Based in Berkeley, Calif., the firm will report on the feasibility of breaking up or consolidating Nevada's 17 school districts to make them more efficient and productive.

The final report is expected by June. The March 6 meeting follows an initial series of public hearings held in January. The firm has been holding similar meetings throughout the state.
