Dam traffic reduced to one lane during shooting of film

Because of the filming of a movie, traffic on U.S. 93 over Hoover Dam will be narrowed to one lane beginning this evening, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Rory Williams said.

Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. today through Friday, motorists will be directed to travel in a single lane, Williams said. Motorists can expect intermittent traffic stops, he said.

Columbia Pictures is filming the movie "Fools Rush In," a romantic comedy featuring "Friends" star Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek, who recently starred in the movie "Desperado."

"Fools Rush In," directed by Andy Tennant, is about a beautiful Mexican-American Las Vegas dancer and her on-and-off relationship with an East Coast yuppie.

Crews have been filming the movie for several weeks in various areas of Southern Nevada, including off U.S. 95 near the Sloan turnoff and at the Nevada Landing hotel-casino about 40 miles south of Las Vegas, the NHP said. Traffic last week was delayed near Jean because of the filming project.
