District Court Judge Archie E. Blake handed down the sentence to Eddie Dwain Winn, who will be eligible for parole in five years.
At the same time, Winn was sentenced to two one-year sentences on two counts of open and gross lewdness.
Blake also ruled that if Winn is ever paroled, he will be supervised for the rest of his life by the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation.
Winn was arrested in May 1996 in Fernley on a charge of sexual assault on a minor.
In April, he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and two counts of open or gross lewdness as part of a plea bargain agreement.
