Letter: Ethics panel did right thing in punishing Constable Nolen

How dare an elected official pretend that the public, who elected him on a platform of honesty and trust, will allow him to defer his duties to others while he is off conducting personal and special interest business unrelated to the office for which he is elected. His salary is paid for out of funds collected from citizens who have to work eight hours a day in order to pay for the services of that office! Public officials are not immune from scrutiny and in fact should be held to higher scrutiny and penalty!

If the office is running smoothly without him being there it is probably because his workers take pride in their obligation of hard work and public service and have to worry about job security opposed to Nolen who states that he "answers to no one!"
