Suspect in L.A. cell after suicide try

Craig Jacobsen, a 26-year-old spy shop owner accused of killing a Las Vegas entertainer, was back in his cell at the Los Angeles County Jail today, a week after trying to commit suicide, a jail spokesman said.

Jacobsen tried to hang himself with a sheet from his cell ceiling Aug. 19, the spokesman said. He was returned to a one-person cell Sunday after he emerged from a coma Friday at Los Angeles County Hospital, where he had been treated.

Jacobsen, who also goes by John Flowers, faces murder charges in with death of 20-year-old Ginger Rios.

Rios' body was found by sheriff's deputies in a shallow grave Aug. 15. Jacobsen's wife, Cheryl Ciccone, led deputies to the body near Tucson, Ariz., 6 1/2 miles west of State Route 177 just off the Florence-Kelvin Highway.

Services for Rios, a dancer and singer, are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Palm Memorial Gardens at 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Jacobsen was arrested Aug. 19 in Los Angeles. He's awaiting extradition to Florida on an unrelated parole violation. After that, he'll be returned to Nevada to face a murder charge, police said.

Jacobsen owns the Spy Craft store on Maryland Parkway where Rios disappeared April 4. He also owns stores in Phoenix and Los Angeles.

A second body found May 10 near Rios' grave was still unidentified today, Metro Police homicide Sgt. Bill Keeton said.
