Letters: Assemblyman never gave constituents the opportunity to offer some in put

The Sun article, "School board delays change in bus service" (July 24) by Jace Radke, has left me a little unsettled.

District 18's representative was given three paragraphs of how he supported the parents of Cunningham School in his speech before the School Board.

The truth is there was no answer or even an answering machine available to leave a message when several parents attempted to contact the incumbent assemblyman, Mark Manendo.

The parents were able to find facts and organization with help from the area candidates -- Patty Slack for Assembly 18 and Sheila Moulton for the School Board.

The incumbent for Assembly 18 was not interested until after he learned we had already organized and had already prepared a presentation.

My husband and I personally received a phone call from him at 10:30 p.m. on July 20 and were put through a seven-minute, one-sided dialogue of hogwash about how he was the only person who could present our case before the board.

It is unfortunate that the grandstanding and free press the incumbent was looking for was provided by the Las Vegas Sun.
