Relief still a year away, but getting closer

The good news is that work is progressing on a complex interchange at Interstate 15 - one of the city's worst bottlenecks.

The bad news is that completion is a year away.

The $55.3 million project includes a new offramp at Spring Mountain Road for northbound I-15 travelers. A "fly-over" ramp at Spring Mountain will also allow southbound I-15 commuters to bypass surface streets and go directly to the Strip.

And a new entrance ramp will allow Spring Mountain motorists to access I-15 south. Currently Spring Mountain drivers can travel north only on I-15.

Transportation Department resident engineer Earl Miller says work on the new interchange is running ahead of schedule.
