Letters: High school jazz players should be promoted better

How sad that our Las Vegas Valley High School jazz band was unable to raise enough money to participate at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
The problem, I believe, was not lack of interest from the community, but the lack of information provided to us as to where and when they were playing.
My fiance and I are avid jazz fans and wanted to hear the group, but we were not aware of all the places they were appearing. We did hear, over KUNV radio, that they were to play at the Italian-American Club, but when we called to ask about the time and cost, no one could answer our questions.
These worthy youngsters should have had a better promo team. Hopefully these young musicians will continue their pursuit of jazz and keep our own musical art form as alive here as it is in Europe.
