FRANCES E. ACKLAND

Frances E. Ackland, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 13, 1916, in Los Angeles. A resident of one year, she was a retired clerk from a county government office.

She is survived by three daughters, Judith E. Ryan of Las Vegas, Marsha L. Sorensen of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Catherine E. Meredith of Fieldbrook, Calif.; one sister, Lois E. Woolfe of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

VINCENT ALLOCCA

Vincent Allocca, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 20 years, he was a security guard at the MGM Grand and at Bally's, a World War II Army veteran, a retired police officer of 22 years for New York City and a volunteer fireman on New York's Long Island.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Patricia Godlewski of Livermore, Calif., and Ann Allocca of West Hills, Calif.; one son, Robert Allocca of Owasso, Okla.; two brothers, Pat Allocca of Las Vegas and Francis Allocca of New York; one sister, Mary Allocca of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. services today at Davis Paradise Valley Chapel, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be at Paradise Memorial Gardens.

RICHARD C. BARNETT

Richard C. Barnett, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday at a local hospital. He was born June 23, 1919, in Hermosa Beach, Calif. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired driver in the moving and storage business.

He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Meadows and Patricia Rudder-Robertson, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, John Thomas Barnett of Florida, David Robert Barnett of Missouri and Charles Albert Barnett of California; four sisters, Ruth Irene Barnett, Marion Grey, Ethel Barnett and Betty Barnett, all of California; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

ROBERT J. CLARK

Robert J. Clark, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday at a local hospital. He was born April 25, 1933, in Waterton, N.Y. A resident for 11 years, he was a heavy equipment mechanic, a member of Operating Engineers Local 3, a Navy veteran and a Korean War Naval Reserve veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; six daughters, Deborah Henry and Carol Terry, both of Oregon, Shirley Morey of Las Vegas, Joanne Curron and Nancy Opplet, both of California, and Susan Reichenbach of Virginia; one son, Robert Clark Jr. of California; two brothers, Fred Clark of New York and William Clark of Hawaii; three sisters, Frances McClish of Indiana, Rosemary Balentine of Ohio and Kathrine Farley of Wisconsin; and 14 grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St.

JOE "MIKE" CORDOVA

Joe 'Mike' Cordova, 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Durango, Colo. A resident of 47 years, he was a retired carpenter, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Sons of Italy and the Basque Club of Las Vegas and was a former business agent for Carpenters Local 1780.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Cordova; two daughters, Mary Schirling and Toni Sproul, both of Las Vegas; one son, Joe M. Cordova Jr. of Las Vegas; one sister, Mildred Romero of Antonito, Colo.; one brother, Christopher B. Cordova of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with a graveside service to follow at Paradise Memorial Park.

ROBERT L. CUMMINS

Robert L. Cummins, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was born April 15, 1925, in Lovington, Ill. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired maintenance engineer and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Wendy Anderson of Hollywood, Md., and Audrey Lonero of San Jose, Calif.; three sons, Robert Cummins of Providence, R.I., Leslie Cummins of Oklahoma City and Larry Cummins of Portland, Ore; one sister, Lois De Vore of Indiana; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

AYSHA GHAFFAR

Aysha Ghaffar, 74, of Henderson died Monday at a local hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1923, in India. A resident of 14 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Mehar Khan of Henderson, Farida Patel of Corona, Calif., and Razia Aurangzaib; and seven grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday at the Islamic Society of Nevada. Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

CHARLES IVAN "GUS" GUSTAFSON

Charles Ivan 'Gus' Gustafson, 67, of Las Vegas died July 29 in Egypt. He was born June 29, 1931, in Chadron, Neb. A resident for one year, he was a consultant for an Egyptian medical care provider, a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, a Korean War Army veteran and once served as president of the Oregon Hospital Association.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; one daughter, Laura Cogdell of Medford, Ore., one son, Brian Gustafson of Vancouver, Wash.; one step-son, James Hess, and one step-daughter, Jennifer Hess, both of Medford; six sisters, Josephine Norton of Vancouver, Florence White and Margaret Seibel, both of Las Vegas, Ruby Anderson of Crawford, Neb., Deloris Tokstad of Portland, Ore., and Cleo Vickers of Newport, Ore.; and six grandchildren.

LEONARD HERZOG

Leonard Herzog, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1921, in New York City. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired educational administrator, a World War II Army veteran, vice president of the Golden Chai, a member of the American Jewish War Veterans and a member of the Knights of Pythius.

Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations be made to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at Congregation Ner Tamid.

ALICE FAYE MCNEAL

Alice Faye McNeal, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday at a local hospice. She was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Viola Brown and Detra Jones, both of Las Vegas, and Marshica Jones of Dover, Del.; three sons, Pierce Jones, Glen Jones and Vernon Jones, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Charles Bowles of Long Beach, Calif., and Frank Bowles and Larry Bowles, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Irma Morries and Gloria Howard, both of Tallulah, La., and Janet Bowles of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at American Burial & Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be at noon Friday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

PAUL JACOB RAINSBERGER

Paul Jacob Rainsberger, 74, of Henderson died Sunday at a local hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired electronics technician for the federal government, a World War II Navy veteran and retired civil service worker at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Melva Mae "Bobbie"; four daughters, Elaine Schmidt of Everett, Wash., Linda Marsic of Pleasanton, Calif., and Paula Perez and Fern Price, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Irena Liber of Malvern, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Henderson. Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

JOHN RUBINO

John Rubino, 54, of Las Vegas died Monday at a local care center. He was born Sept. 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for three years, he was a retired accountant.

He is survived by his mother, Esther Rubino, and one brother, Daniel Rubino, both of Las Vegas.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

MARGARET M. SOUDERS

Margaret M. Souders, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born May, 7, 1918, in Pennsylvania. A resident for three years, she was a seamstress for a casket company.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret M. Angstadt of Las Vegas; two sons, Ronald R. Soudens and Robert J. Soudens, both of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Boyertown, Pa. Arrangements were handled by Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

MARIAN B. STEWART

Marian B. Stewart, 77, of Henderson died July 30 in Henderson. She was born June 15, 1921, in Hillsboro, Wis. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired waitress at a hotel.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Solum of Eau Claire, Wis.; four sons, Daniel Scoville of Pardeeville, Wis., Richard Scoville of Oregon, Wis., Darrel Smothers of Milwaukee and Jerome Smothers of Baraboo, Wis.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

ANNETTE L. THACKER

Annette L. Thacker, 91, of Las Vegas died July 27 at a local care center. She was born Dec. 28, 1906, in Glen Campbell, Pa. A resident for 18 years, she was a seamstress.

She is survived by two brothers, Walter Saffron and Paul Saffron; three sisters, Sally Yates, Helen Saffron and Nellie Fribourg.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until noon services Aug. 12 at Desert Memorial Chapel, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

JOHN L. VOORHEES

John L. Voorhees, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Newark, N.J. A resident for eight years, he was a retired general manager in the hotel and restaurant industry, a World War II Marine veteran serving with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific and a past councilman of Roseland, N.J.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtis, two sons, Scott Voorhees and Steve Voorhees, both of Las Vegas; and three granddaughters.
