Condo project gets extension

A Las Vegas man planning a nine-story condominium just off the Strip was granted an extension of time on the project, just two weeks after the Clark County Commission declined to take action.

On Wednesday, at a commission zoning meeting, Michael Robert Flores again faced opposition from attorney Mark Russell, who represents Mirage Resorts Inc. Russell complained the planned 150-unit condominium would be too large for the half-acre parcel.

He also argued that the time-share would not be compatible with its surroundings.

This time, however, commissioners sided with Flores, saying they have no reason to deny the extension. They pointed out that the Mirage and Treasure Island -- both more than 20 stories tall -- would surround the condominiums and the board would have a difficult time arguing the new building is not compatible.
