Naming aircraft carrier for Truman not quite appropriate

The naming of a U.S. aircraft carrier after Harry Truman is the height of irony (no pun intended). He completely neglected his primary duty as president: to provide for the defense of the United States. He disarmed us totally.

When the Communists were taking over China, we had nothing to aid them with: neither Navy, Army, nor Air Force, nor supplies to ship them. Then Korea came along and we lost many men for lack of military hardware, which was all dumped into the ocean after the World War II.

According to his biographers, when he was asked why he was letting his secretary of defense cut back the forces to nothing, he flippantly answered something to the effect, "Oh, he's just running for president."
