Letters: This 'notch baby' not about to give up long-standing fight

In response to the letter by Kenneth M. Brennan on the notch baby rip-off. I am one of the victims of the tremendous bit of political manipulation, and if they think they will stall until we all have "kicked the bucket" they are sadly mistaken.

I, for one intend to have all of my family and friends write their objection to the stagnant indifference of their duty to us. A bill is in the House now to settle with all of us to the tune of $5,000 each, which I must admit is better than nothing, but this, too, could be set aside as all other efforts have been in the past, and perhaps used as dangling a carrot in front of the notch faces to again create a hope that is not really there.

The amount suggested is in itself an insult to us, but as with most "cover-ups" of inefficiency or manipulation it is not surprising, especially when they are trying to adjust the bill for payment of the $5,000 to be over a period of four years.

I am so stubborn I will hang on beyond my time if only to see justice done, God willing. If not, my family and friends will continue to fight this injustice.

The ways of service to the general public should be accounted for and in this case, an heir allowed to receive compensation if the notch baby has passed on.

By the way, where did they get the expression "notch baby"? In the old Western days wasn't this world "notch in my gun, or notch in my belt" significant of a kill?

History repeats itself.
