Tax breaks to two firms expanding to Henderson

The state Economic Development Commission voted to allow Dongsung Americas to escape paying $225,000 in sales tax on its $4.5 million equipment purchase and defer payment of another $90,000 in taxes.

Dongsung, whose U.S. headquarters is in Fredericksburg, Va., will manufacture drums for printers and fax machines.

In addition, the commission allowed Dongsung to reduce its business-tax levy by $15,400 over four years. And the commission allocated $19,393 for the company to train its employees.

The tax abatement and deferral program is an effort to entice new companies to Nevada and to reward other companies that expand their Nevada operations.
