Horse killed in traffic accident

The truck driver was headed toward Verdi on Old U.S. Highway 40 Friday afternoon when he struck and killed the horse, sheriff's deputies said.

The truck rolled after the impact, but the driver was not hurt.

Animal control officers helped remove the horse from the road with a fork lift, witnesses said. No other details have been released.
