Parents ask school district for weather guidelines

Some parents think the Clark County School District should answer that question with some official guidelines.

Parents were unhappy when their children were kept outside for an event at Dondero Elementary School last month when the temperature climbed near 115 degrees. Dondero is one of the city's growing number of year-round schools.

Christina Mason said her daughter developed heat blisters, and Nevada Davis' son got heatstroke.

District Trustee Ruth Johnson said school staff should check medical recommendations to determine what the district weather guidelines should be.
