DMV worker diagnosed with TB, others being tested

Agency spokeswoman Kim Reid said the DMV is explaining health risks to workers and offering tests to anyone concerned about being exposed.
Reid estimated about 25 workers requested the tests, in addition to several staffers who worked with the sick individual in Information Services.
"The initial rumor mill got started and people got really nervous, but the meetings have really put everybody at ease," she said. "The individual who was diagnosed is obviously not working and is on sick leave."
State Health Division officials say tuberculosis is infectious and spread through the air, but the risk of contracting TB is very small for normal, healthy adults.
