Jail inmate walks away three days shy of scheduled release

The 41-year-old year old Sparks man was only three days away from his scheduled release when he walked away from a work program on Wednesday, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said.

Now, the sheriff's office has issued a warrant for his return.

Hewlett was booked into jail on March 28 on charges of trespassing and petty larceny.

He was participating in a boot camp program and was supposed to be interviewing for a job when he walked away.

He was due to be released from jail Saturday.
