Ruth Jean Allen, 72, of Las Vegas died Aug. 6 in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Princeton, W.Va. A resident for seven years, she was a show-production secretary for 48 years.

She is survived by one son, Curtis Allen of Kailua, Hawaii.

MATTIE AUSTIN

Mattie Austin, 95, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for many years, she was born Oct. 4, 1902.

She is survived by one son, Jim Austin of Las Vegas.

Burial will be in Texas. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

LOUISE AXE

Louise Axe, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 28, 1928, in Idaho. A resident for 48 years, she was a retired microfilm processor for Metro Police.

She is survived by four sons, John Craig, Joe Craig and Jerry Olson, all of Las Vegas, and Jeff Craig of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Jackie Heese, Judy Guagnano and Janet Craig, and one brother, Bill Gordon, all of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

LORIN W. 'BILL' BENKE

Lorin W. "Bill" Benke, 83, of Boulder City died Saturday in a local convalescent hospital. He was born June 26, 1915, in Norfolk, Neb. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired owner of an air conditioning business.

He is survived by his wife, Olive T.; one daughter, Lorin B. Hall of Seattle; one son, Bruce C. Benke of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

CHESTER RAY BREWER

Chester Ray Brewer, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 6, 1925, in Townsen, Tennessee. A resident for five years, he was a retired entertainer and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Richard Brewer and Russell Brewer, both of Las Vegas, and Ronald Brewer of Sacramento; three brothers, James Brewer and Charles Brewer, both of Sacramento, and Sonny Brewer of Florida; three sisters, Imogene Ladwig of Mesa, Ariz., Mavis Foster of Sacramento and Pauline Foster of Zion, Ill.; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 2:15 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

KELVIN E. BYCE

Kelvin E. Byce, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Michigan. A resident for 12 years, he was a machinist and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Gladys Hill of Las Vegas.

DOROTHY CASEY

Dorothy Casey, 74, of Las Vegas died Aug. 2 in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Oklahoma. A resident for three years, she was a retired telephone answering service operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Lee McAllister of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. A private burial will follow.

ANTONIO P. D'ANNA

Antonio P. D'Anna, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Michigan. A resident for seven years, he was a former employee of Motown Records.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one son, Frank D'Anna of Michigan; one daughter, Denise Knoll of Michigan; three sisters, Gina Taylor of California, and Lee Porzadek and Ann Rogensues, both of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Community Lutheran Church. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

CHESTER RONALD EIDSON

Ronald Eidson, 50, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in New Jersey. A resident for one year, he was an auto body repairman.

He is survived by one son, Robert J. Harms of Linden, N.J.; two daughters, Kimberly Eidson of Avenel, N.J., and Susanne Eidson of Henderson; four brothers, David Eidson of Port Reading, N.J., Lonnie Eidson Jr. of Leesville, S.C., Mark Eidson of Union Beach, N.J., and Paul Eidson of Woodbridge, N.J.; five sisters, JoAnn Scangrella of Wayne, N.J., Robin Scott and Kathy Ziolkowski, both of Leesville, Donna Valosin of Carterez, N.J., and LuAnn Walsh of Avenel, and one grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. service in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Burial will be private.

ROBERT LEE FARNSWORTH

Robert Lee Farnsworth, 89, of Las Vegas died Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. He was born July 3, 1909, in Chicago. A resident for 43 years, he was a real estate appraiser, president of the Tennessee Uranium Mining Co., former congressional candidate in Illinois, early advocate of space flight, founder and president of the United States Rocket Society and member of the Masons and Shriners.

LYDIA LEMKE

Lydia Lemke, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for 10 years, she was a secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, James of Baraboo, Wis., Alan of Tucson, Ariz., and Dean of Elgin, Ill.; one sister, Gertrude Brown of Lena, Ill.; one brother, Alvin Bergemann of Freeport, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

ELMA JEAN LUCERO

Elma Jean Lucero, 49, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1948, Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a beautician.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence F.; one stepdaughter, Crystal Lucero, and one stepson, Felix Lucero, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Lillith Morgan of Henderson; one brother, Robert Morgan of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Saturday in the LDS Chapel, 303 Cholla St., Henderson.

MICHAEL MILLER

Michael Miller, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a Los Angeles VA hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Warren, Ohio. A resident for 23 years, he was a security officer at the Desert Inn and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam "Chris"; one daughter, Ann Miller, and one son, Tony Miller, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Cecila of Campbell, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

PEARL V. NICHOLS

Pearl V. Nichols, 76, of Boulder City died Tuesday in a local health care center. She was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Trimble, Tenn. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; two daughters, Linda L. Pollock-Wells of Ogden, Utah, and Myra J. Davis of Boulder City; one son, Joe Nichols Jr. of Visalia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 5 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Joe Ostrenger, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Michigan. A resident for 10 years, he was a self-employed mining engineer.

He is survived by one daughter, Lorraine Ostrenger; five brothers, John, Frank, Edward, Walter and Raymond; two sisters, Julie Kuhn and Louise Ostrenga; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SIGRID PASKELL

Sigrid Paskell, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Stockholm, Sweden. A resident for nine years, she was a retired jeweler.

She is survived by one brother, Edle of Sweden; one sister, Ruth of England; and two nephews, Eddie and Peter.

LOIS C. REYES

Lois C. Reyes, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born July 9, 1949, in New Jersey. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Alonzo; and her mother, Lois DeMaio of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

DAN RUBIN

Dan Rubin, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 25, 1949, in Romania. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a security guard.

He is survived by one sister, Rosa Cohen of Los Angeles.

LARRY LEE TRIPLETT

Larry Lee Triplett, 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 2, 1941, in New Hampton, Iowa. A resident for 25 years, he was a truck driver and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Terri Buffet of Las Vegas; and his father, Donald Triplett of Fredericksburg, Iowa.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

CATHY WARD

Cathy Ward, 79, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Pittsburgh. A resident for seven years, she was a retired saleswoman, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Girl Scouts of America and many youth groups through her church in Fullerton, Calif.

She is survived by her husband, Frank R.; two daughters, Mary Kay Mortensen of Riverside, Calif., and Terry Lynn Green of Las Vegas; one sister, Rebecca Kelly of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, William Oliver of Newell, N.C.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
