Fire officials say eight recent fires related

Since July 12, eight fires have been set at Lewis Homes construction sites, department spokesman Bob Leinbach said Monday. The fires occurred within close proximity to each other and most were set between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Total damage was estimated at $1.2 million, Leinbach said.

The most serious fire destroyed six homes under construction on July 13.

Several portable toilets at the sites have also been set on fire.

Leinbach said fire officials are investigating whether juveniles, disgruntled Lewis Homes employees or others could be setting the fires.

"We've eliminated basically nothing. Everybody's part of the mix."

No one has been injured in the fires.
