Metro Police officer faces another DUI charge

A Metro Police officer jailed earlier this month for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a parked car was arrested again this weekend on a DUI charge by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Beverly Wagner, a nine-year veteran, was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail Saturday night and later released. Details of her upcoming court date were not available.

A trooper observed Wagner's car weaving in and out of a northbound U.S. 95 traffic lane about 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

The trooper pulled in behind Wagner's car, the patrol car's flashing lights activated, to initiate the traffic stop on the Jones Boulevard off-ramp when Wagner reportedly continued driving and eventually parked at a nearby Texaco station.

Wagner submitted to a series of field sobriety tests, including a preliminary breath test, which found the 38-year-old woman to be over Nevada's 0.10 intoxication limit, said Trooper Scott Flabi.

Wagner was jailed on the DUI charge and submitted to additional blood-alcohol tests. The results of which are pending.

Saturday's arrest was the third time in five months that Wagner's name has surfaced in alcohol-related incidents.

She is awaiting a Sept. 29 Municipal Court date in connection with charges that she was intoxicated, rear-ended a vehicle and left the scene of the collision at North Torrey Pines Drive and West Vegas Drive on Aug. 4. Metro Police arrested Wagner at her home minutes later.

Wagner was disciplined by the department this spring after an internal investigation concluded that she was drunk when she arrived for work April 21.

The results of a breath-test analysis showed the patrol officer had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10 -- the same amount considered the legal limit for drivers in Nevada.
