Primm casinos join with NHP to help sleepy drivers

The NHP says sleepy drivers were to blame for more than 1,300 accidents on the 43-mile stretch of Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Primm the past three years.
Patrol Trooper Steve Flabi is developing a program with Primm casinos to offer free coffee to I-15 drivers. Billboards and posters will publicize the program with the casinos on the Nevada-California border.
Awareness among drivers needs to be increased, Flabi said.
Last year, there were 517 Nevada traffic accidents in which a fatigued driver was the main contributing factor. The accidents resulted in six fatalities and 145 injuries.
