Brush fire on Carson's C Hill

A spokesman for the Carson Fire Department said the fire moved rapidly Tuesday, driven by brisk winds that pushed it down the south slope of the hill.

But planes dropped fire-retarding slurry on the flames, and two dozen fire trucks and about 200 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The fire was contained before it got close to structures on the southwest end of town.
